OORAH EXPLAINED
Any family that has at least one child who attended public or charter school for kindergarten or older qualifies for Oorah.
This scholarship is independent of income.
How much does Oorah provide?
Oorah automatically gives a base discount of $1000 per child when switching from public/charter school, without any stipulations. However, families can earn up to $2,500 more per child by fulfilling a learning commitment, totaling a tuition discount of $3,500.
Important: If neither parent participates in learning, the Oorah scholarship will not be eligible for renewal in future years.

What is the family learning requirement?
Oorah gives $1,250 per child for each parent that learns with a study partner by phone for 30 minutes a week ($2,500 for both parents).
How is the money applied to tuition?
Depending on the amount earned, families will receive a $100/ $225/$325 tuition discount per month, on the following month’s invoice (on a 10 month billing cycle).
Can a family receive Oorah for multiple children?
Yes. There are no additional learning hours required per child.
How many years can a family receive Oorah funding?
A family will receive Oorah funding until all their children graduate from high school. In fact, Oorah gives up to $4,500 for high school students ($1,000 more than for elementary school).
Can a family receive both Oorah and Chinuch Yehudi?
Yes. A family can receive up to $3,500 from Oorah and another $1,000 from Chinuch Yehudi–totaling a $4,500 tuition discount.
What happens if a family does not fulfill their learning commitments?
For the first year, the student loses the learning-based part of the scholarship, and the parent is liable for the corresponding loss of tuition.
Going forward, if neither parent participates in learning, the Oorah scholarship will not be eligible for renewal in future years.
How do you apply?
First you complete a priliminary questionaire before moving forward to the application.
You must renew yearly to keep your scholarship.
